dad. dad. Dad. DAD. DAD!! hey DAD! daddaddaddaddad......are we there yet??
remember those family road trips as a kid... the kind where the boredom of the drive was only relieved by the thought of the gift shop at the tourist stop!
for those of us growing up in the 1950's and '60's, any time spent at tourist attractions were commemorated by a postcard, giant pencil, or a pennant to hang on our bedroom wall - if our parents gave in to our whining!
this vintage original felt pennant is from Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, in Charlottesville VA.
deliciously felted and silk-screened, it appears to be from the late 1950's or early 60's. perhaps originally a deep blue in color, it has faded a bit to a beautiful purple-blue, with a golden yellow edging and red flaps. the wording is in very good shape, and the pennant is intact.
for use in travel-themed events or simply hanging on a wall, it is a nostalgic reminder of a simpler time.
